
China’s Chang’e-7 mission is set to explore the Moon’s south pole later this year. The robotic mission will search for water ice and assess the region for a future research base. China also plans a crewed lunar landing by 2030, integrating its space exploration efforts.
China’s lunar exploration mission Chang’e-7 is scheduled for launch later this year and will conduct environmental and resource surveys of the Moon’s south pole, the China Manned Space Agency said on May 23, 2026. The mission will employ a comprehensive exploration approach encompassing orbiting, landing, roving and hopping, Chinese official media quoted Agency spokesperson Zhang Jingbo as saying.
