
China’s Baiyangdian wetland has become a key focus of ecological restoration efforts in Xiong’an, south of Beijing. Stronger environmental protection and ecological restoration efforts are transforming Baiyangdian – the largest freshwater wetland system on the North China Plain.
From lotus ponds and reed marshes to rare birds like the endangered Baer’s pochard, the once-polluted wetland is coming back to life.
