With the ability to transport over 8.5 million tons of freight annually, this project not only strengthens the economic ties between Iran and China but also positions Iran as a critical hub in the new Global South trade landscape.
The completion of the China-Iran railway is a vital link in the Belt and Road Initiative, and will streamline transportation of goods between China, Iran, and other neighboring nations. By facilitating trade, Iran and China can circumvent Western sanctions and strengthen economic ties, ultimately reducing reliance on Western markets.
