The annual output of various forest foods in China is over 200 million tons, and the per capita share of forest food for over 1.4 billion people exceeds 140 kilograms. Forest food has become the third largest agricultural product in China after grains and vegetables.
At present, the planting area of economic forests in China has reached 700 million mu (49.6 million hectares) and the utilization of forest land in non-timber forest-based economy has exceeded 600 million mu (40.2 million hectares).
